  • Hi William, First of all we would need to establish which cord is which. I presume that the cord with the plain end is the one that runs along the the top of the bale and is known as the 'number one' cord. The 'number two' cord is the one that the needle brings up and feeds into the twine disc. Have you checked or adjusted the tension on the twine finger spring? Has the adjusting screw been fully tightened? I suspect that the No1 cord may be being pulled from the twine disc before the knot can be formed and you are only getting a partial knot on the No2 cord. One of my customers bought a new NH baler in 2015 and had a similar problem. The tip of the twine finger spring was moving to one side and decreasing pressure on the twine discs. NH US finally rectified the problem with a new knotter frame. Check also the twine disc timing. The inter discs should sit approximately half way across the notch in the main discs. Let us know what you find. DavidP, South Wales

  • the twine is being pulled out of the twine holder, causing a bow knot that will not come off bill hook. your trouble is in the twine holder.

  • the knot is not coming off the bill hook because it is a bow knot, caused by faulty knife (dull), or not enough tension on twine holder. Could also be not enough contact of knife arm to bill hook
